Make a memory jar

At the end of each week write down something good that has happened in the past 7 days, fold it up and put it in a jar. When its comes around to New Year, you’ll have 52 wonderful memories to look back on and smile.

Make massages a regular thing

Now it’s needless to say that we’re big advocates for massages, but the benefits of getting a massage every 2 weeks not only help with aches and pains, but they reduce stress and increase sleep. If only there was an app you could book massage easily and instantly on the market…with discounts. 

Perform a random act of kindness once a day.

Whether it’s buying a stranger a water at 7/11, giving a bigger tip than normal, a compliment to a stranger looking down or even letting someone have your seat on the MTR; a simple act of kindness once a day will instantly lift your mood!

Forgive yourself

A lot of people are way too hard on themselves, for situations that are out of their control. Remember you’re human, and will make mistakes, and fail occasionally. It’s important to learn from mistakes, understand that you can’t always control everything around you, and to forgive yourself. An easy way to do this is to treat yourself like you would with a best friend.

Sleep more

I think if we’re being honest with ourselves, we’re definitely not getting our 8-10 hours of sleep. Hectic Hong Kong isn’t a place that knows the meaning of peace and sleep, but more sleep means more clarity, a boost in your mood and better productivity. Use an alarm to tell you when to start winding down and go to bed, and opt for books over your phone. Not to mention the dark circles will be long gone!

Exercise every day!

Don’t worry, we’re not going to try and turn you into marathon runners, but gentle exercise gets your heart going and releases all those lovely happy endorphins. So whether it’s a gentle jog, a trip to the yoga studio or even a 5 min morning routine, a little bit of exercise will go along way for your body and mood!

Treat yourself

Whether that’s a manicure or a new bag, allow yourself to treat yourself! These mood boosters will carry you through the times when you need a pick-me-up!

Cut toxic people out your life

Ok, so this one might not be “simple”, but it’s definitely worth while. If there are people in your life that don’t add happiness or value to it, it’s important to cut them loose. Don’t suffer because other people want to control you.

Try these tips over the course of the year, and by the time 2018 swings about you’ll be able to look back on 2017 with a smile and satisfaction!
