Kung hei fat choi, and happy year of the pig to all!

Coming in last in the great mythological race, it is said that the pig was last to swim across the river as he had stopped for a mid race snack and a quick nap. Others say that he was just a little stouter and less athletic when compared with the other animals racing, but we like to think that the pig had his priorities right when he ate, slept, and completed his task all in one go.

Celebrate this glorious victory and the prosperous year ahead in our favourite fashion: nail design.

If you’ve got a taste for nail design, we know you’ll love this list of our favourite nail artists on Instagram.

Gold

A prosperous colour and fashionable to boot, we love a little gold sprinkled here or there during Chinese New Year. Now you can match your favourite jewellery to your favourite nail colour. If a solid gold isn’t you thing, we are obsessed with gold glitter and golden inlays that can compliment and accent any fresh manicure.

Red

The colour of good luck, happiness, and all in all good vibes, red is the most iconic colour for Chinese culture and all things celebration. Celebrate this Chinese New Year the best way with a stylish red manicure to match your outfit. We love a little nail design here and there, so why not get a sizzling red and one or two feature nails to celebrate the new year. Pair it wth some gold, and you’re in for a treat.

Piggy

It is the year of the pig, after all. Super cute, curly tails, and little snouts, we went gaga over these divine nail designs that you can get to celebrate the new year. Get a little piggy on one (or all) of your nails, and look and feel cute as a button. Some salons will have small accessories that you can attach to your nail, otherwise see if the artist is able to pain one on by hand. Pair it with a small message about the new year, and remember to show them off to your family and friends.
Oink!

Powder Pink

If a full on pig on your nails is a little too much, then you can still celebrate the new year with a cute and themed colour: pastel pink. The colour of piglets and piggies the world over, it’s a chic way of celebrating the new year without going overboard.
