If you’re looking for a 5 minute makeover to your hair that doesn’t require a visit to the spa, then why not shake up your look with a new parting? Centre, side, or slightly off centre, these changes take seconds but can give you a whole new look you never thought possible.

The centre part

A dead centre parting works wonders for oval or heart-shaped beauties, and can be changed up to suit any event. A favourite amongst Victoria’s Secret Angels, this parting emphasises cheek bones and shows off just how versatile your hair can be.

For a centre-parting, we love giving it a bohemian/beachy vibe. Take some sea salt spray, spritz and scrunch, and leave hair to dry naturally to get that slight kink at the ends.

Got some killer eyebrows? Or maybe you just had your lashes done and want the whole world to see? Then a centre parting with some hair from the front pulled back is your go-to. Not only does it help to open up a heart-shaped face, it can also soften severe features.

For a more stylish do, try groomed waves with a centre part. It still gives movement through the hair and the soft waves add a touch of refined glamour to the whole look. Bonus points if you have a super cute bob, we love how Olivia Palermo works this winning combination.

For those with thin hair, a centre part helps to keep both the sides looking even and helps to draw attention to the face rather than the hair. Slick the hair down and put on some statement earrings (like Tyra) and feel the good hair vibes.

The Side Part

Quinn, the elder sister of Daria on the show by the same name and a low-key 90s fashion icon, had the wise catch phrase: “which is my best side? I know they’re both good”. For those with a more round or heart-shaped face, take a look at your face and decide which is the side you want to show off (both sides are gorgeous, so you can’t choose incorrectly).

Relaxed glamour for the round face is just a sea-salt spray away! Miranda Kerr, queen of the side part, knows that the best compliment for her round face is a side parting and some serious volume.

If you are looking to soften a strong jaw, or else just want to wow everyone with a dramatic hair style, then opting for a side part helps to achieve both. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley keeps a side-part to soften her sharp features and also rock some serious side-eye.

Side parting is absolutely ideal for a messy low bun or pony tail. By amping up the volume on this hairstyle, you’ll give the face more structure and features become less severe. All you need is some texture dust, back-combing, and a helluva lot of hair spray.

Fancy event coming up? Hollywood curls work best with a side-parting, and thank goodness that a side-parting works best with your heart-shaped or round face (what luck you have!) Emma Stone knows that a side parting is her best friend, and you’ll see her at lots of red carpet events rocking Hollywood curls. Keep em clean and under control, and try pairing it all with a red lip.

The slightly off-centre part

Best for: oval, heart-shaped

A cheeky and subtle change to your everyday look, the slightly off-centre may look like it’s just a centre part, but adding that little shift can make huge changes to your look. Said to be the softer version of a dead centre part, it has a more relaxed, easy-going vibe without even trying.

Tousled and textured, Bella Hadid’s slightly-off centre adds a little casual vibe to her strong face. Add some curls to the ends for maximum 90’s vibes.
