Spring cleaning our apartments is one thing, but so is giving yourself a spring clean. Emerging into spring is the perfect time of year to re-evaluate yourself on a deeper level. Are you happy? Spring Clean Your Mind
Never underestimate the power of having peace of mind! De-cluttering your mind might seem like a mountain of a task, particularly if you have a lot going on in your life and don’t know where to start, but don’t worry, it’s easier than you think!
Doing small things such as making your bed every morning is a great way to start handling stress in manageable doses. A freshly made bed only takes a few seconds and instantly starts your day on a clear foot; you’ll feel more motivated to tackle bigger tasks throughout the day.
Meditation is also a great way to clear your mind if there is a lot on your plate. Ever noticed how things are always suddenly clearer after a good night’s sleep? Sadly, naps aren’t usually accepted in the middle of the day- though we wish they were!- so an easier way to gain clarity is to meditate for 5-10 minutes at work. Cut The Fat In Your Social Group
When spring cleaning we always throw out clothes that we no longer wear, or have be worn so much there are holes. It’s always difficult to throw out things that hold sentiment, but they clutter your closet and in the end are a burden. Unfortunately, sometimes we have to have the same mentality with friends and close ones. If there is someone in your life that is draining all your energy, persistently bringing negative energy into your life or is making your relationship very one sided, it’s time to take them away. It might be tough, but you have to think of your own mental well-being, and if they’re taking more than they’re offering, it’s time to cut the chaos out of your life.
Let your problems float away…
Literally. We’re a huge fan of floating at the moment, and have gone from being sceptics to regular floaters! Spring Clean Your Body
We’ve said it once, we’ll say it 1000 times: drink more water. Make sure you start every day with a glass of water! If you’re not great at drinking throughout the day, try drinking through a straw or flavour your water with lemon or mint leaves to make it a bit more exciting.
It goes without saying that Hong Kong is a non-stop city, so the best way to plan ahead with healthy options for your meals is creating a meal plan. Let’s get physical
Although sometimes exercise is easy to put off, it’s clearly one of the best ways to feel better. We’ve never gone to the gym, or to for a walk and regretted it…but there have been a fair few days when we’ve said “I’ll go tomorrow instead” and then regretting it. We’re not saying go to the gym everyday or become fitness obsessed if its not you, but exercise releases endorphins that make us feel happy. It’s also a really good way to clear your mind…not to mention the physical benefits!
If you want to work out as a way to clear your mind and de-stress, many people use yoga to unwind and and as a use of meditation. If you haven’t tried yoga in Hong Kong, then you’re in for a treat, this city is chockablock full of classes from hot yoga to swing yoga, Hong Kong has everything so you’re never too far away from a class.
We’re so #blessed to live in a place like Hong Kong, we have the excitement of the big city life, but also the luxury of having some of the most stunning greenery in the world. One of the many great things about hiking in Hong Kong is that we get to see the city from a whole new perspective and spend some time with nature. Nature is well-known for having positive effects on our well-being known as biophilia.
