It would seem that in the past year or so, people have become obsessed with coconuts and coconut oil all of a sudden. We don’t blame them! Coconuts are tasty, great for hot days at the beach and a great hangover cure (not that we would know anything about that). People tend to lean on coconut oil for one specific reason or another without realising that it’s one of the greatest things to use everyday for a number of reasons! Here are our top ten tip for using coconut oil in everyday use:

1) Works wonders for shaving.

Shaving foams and soaps usually dry out your skin when you shave, whereas a little coconut oil can make a big difference by not only making the process of shaving easier, but will moisturize your skin leaving it silky smooth and the best part is that the smallest amount of coconut oil goes a long way! Shaving your legs with coconut oil also leaves you smelling amazing, so its safe to say that it’s not so shabby so far!

2) Promotes hair growth.

That’s right! Thanks to the many natural nutrients and proteins inside coconut oil, (as well as the moisturizing properties which help hair grow); makes it the best natural hair growth serum in the world. Just rub a few drops into your scalp before shampoo. Thanks Mother Nature!

3) Gives you the softest, shiniest & most beautiful hair on earth.

SERIOUSLY. If you have particularly dry or damaged hair, simply rub a bit of coconut oil in your hands and smooth down the end of your hair before shampooing. This also works if you want to add a little extra shine or softness to your luscious locks. Soft and hydrated hair also stops the Hong Kong humidity from wrecking your beautiful locks!

4) Dandruff? Not anymore.

Yes, as well as making your hair longer, stronger, shinier AND softer, it also help get rid of dandruff. Coconut oil is often found in anti-dandruff creams, shampoos and other forms of dandruff relief products. Why not just rub your scalp with a little bit of the magical stuff itself, and not only get long locks, but also dandruff free locks too! Two birds one stone? Try a thousand.

5) It’s our hero against humidity.

Here in Hong Kong we all know the woes of humidity destroying our hair, turning us into walking Frizz bombs or members of the Hair Bear Bunch (anyone remember them?). Luckily, Mother Nature has her secret weapon and its name is Coconut Oil. Use a few table spoons to smooth down your hair as a deep conditioner before shampoo and you'll be back to your silky self. Take that, Typhoon Season!

6) The perfect makeup remover.

Correct! Just put a little on your face and 3..2..1..makeup is removed. Easier than soap, cheaper than makeup remover and not to mention its natural and there for is not tested on animals and contains no harmful chemicals. Even waterproof mascara is no match for this bad boy.

7) AMAZING for your health.

This point could be a blog post on it’s own because the benefits are honestly endless. Want to speed up your metabolism? Coconut oil. Want to stop cravings for snacks? Coconut oil. You know what decreases your chances of heart disease and improves your cholesterol levels? Mamma Nature’s little baby. In fact, coconut oil also helps prevention/reductions in seizures, helps brain activity and boosts brain function in Alzheimers patients and has MANY MORE HEALTH RELATED BENEFITS. So, for your own good just put some in your morning smoothie to start the day on the right foot!

Banana & coconut smoothie? Oh yes!

8) Gives you baby soft skin.

Seriously, coconut oil is amazing as a moisturizer for your body, face and hair. If you’re feeling the woes of dry skin, just treat your body to some TLC with your new best friend, Coconut Oil McGee.

9) Weight Watchers? No thanks, just coconut oil!

Coconut oil has a lot of saturated fats, which sounds like it wouldn’t help you lose weight, but wait, these fats are medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) which means they are fatty acids of a medium length. These particular fatty acids have been shown to increase energy levels, and the length of time energy levels are high by around 5%, which could potentially lead to long-term weight loss.

10) 100% natural

One problem we face today is that we don’t know or even look what goes into the products we use on our face, hair or what we ever put in our mouths sometimes. Coconut oil is Mother Nature’s greatest gift, and we should thank her.
