Seeing a Christmas turkey is one of the best feelings during a chilly winter in Hong Kong, but feeling like one from all the festive feasting is not such a good feeling. As the temperature drops outside, our beds become cozier, and food becomes heartier, it can seem like keeping on top of your normal exercise routine is almost impossible (“I sat up and reached for the bowl of popcorn, that’s a sit up, right?”)

If you cannot be bothered leaving the house, but still want to feel the rush of exercise this winter then you have to give our belly-busting workout a go this December. Super simple and easily completed on the floor of any Hong Kong apartment, it will not only help you to move more but also to fit more food in (dessert, anyone?)

If workouts aren’t your thing, then the best way to keep in shape over the winter is to try and get your daily 10,000 steps in. Did you know that your iPhone also works as a pedometer? Open up the health app and it will show you a rough estimate of your daily steps. If you find yourself sitting around the heater and not moving as much as you should, a good option for a lazy person’s workout is to head to your local mall and having a window show. An hour of that will have you kicking your daily step goals in no time!

Remember with any exercise, the most important thing that you need to do is listen to your body and shy away from anything that causes pain. Exercise burn is one thing, but that stinging and tearing sensation in your muscles is not what we are aiming for. Recover from any day-after soreness with a good stretch and a massage, and remember to drink plenty of water!
