h3>The Wedding Makeup Trends We Love In 2018! May 15, 2018

That was to the tune of wedding bells, and if you’re an upcoming blushing bride (or just a romantic-at-heart who is day dreaming about future weddings) then it is time to sink your teeth in to some 2018 wedding trends we are seriously digging. This year, it’s all about effortless beauty combined with subtly chic. Gone are the days of heavily contoured cheekbones and smokey eyes, it’s time to keep it nice and simple and let your natural beauty shine through on your day of days.

Metallic Liner

Brighten your eyes and nail that angelic look with a small line of metallic eyeliner underneath. For this look, you should aim for a soft metallic rather than something too bold. Gold, silver, even a soft pastel can give you that extra oomph without taking away from your natural beauty.

A post shared by Anthea Bueno (@antheabueno) on

Waterline winging! Dual metallic lower-line eyeliner. Makeup creation by me🎨👨🏼‍🎨 @tarshaorsman #bts moments

Dewy and Fresh

Although this trend has been going for a while, having a dewy and fresh makeup look paired with 2018 effortless-angelic hair is suddenly taking centre stage. For this look, you’ll have soft highlights on your cheekbones, cupids bow, and eyes, which is then paired with a barely there glossy lip (preferably in nude). Keep this look simple and effortless, some small earrings work best.

No lashes lahes

Gone are the days of huge bar lashes, and now is the time for au naturale lashes, baby! For this trend, brides are ditching the heavy glue and going for soft, and very natural looking lashes with maybe just a suggestion of mascara.

Be sure to try out some of Hong Kong’s best lash extension parlours for lashes that turn heads as people wonder if you’ve always had Bambi eyes.

Blown the budget on the wedding and need to get a little DIY with your beauty regime? Why not make your own cosmetics and save some cash money for a little pampering after the big day?

Or instead, get a preview of what the massages are like in Thailand before going there on your honeymoon. After all, you are the bride and you should be pampered.

h3>How to Spice Up A Classic French Manicure May 8, 2018

Ah yes, the humble French Manicure. Stylish, effortless, chic, and above all perfect for every event, here at BloomMe we are obsessed. Next time you’re heading in for your next pampering session, why not opt for a french manicure with a twist? Glitter, colour, shapes, and everything out of the ordinary can take your reliable french style to the next level.

For more nail inspiration to take with you into the salon, check out our favourite nail design artists on Instagram here.

C’est magnifique!

Traditional French with a clear glitter top coat

After getting a traditional manicure, spice it up a little with a clear glitter top coat to give your nails a subtle shine. A soft pink glitter or gold go beautifully with the natural pink base coat, and when paired with matching rings and bracelets can look super feminine and stylish.

A glossy black nail tip

Out of the box and oh-so parfait for those who love the colour black, this modern take on a classic style will turn heads. For the best effect, we recommend a gloss rather than a matte black on the tip as a matte can dull down the nail when matched with your shiny nude undercoat.

Mono-colour in matte and shine

For those looking for a single colour on every nail, using a pairing of gloss and matte finish polishes can create a super interesting effect. We love a strong silver or black colour, but whatever you feel will suit this style flawlessly.

Traditional French with a Glitter Strip

Indulging in our love of all things shiny, this cheeky design involves a small strip of glitter tape being placed between the soft pinks and the crisp white. Perfect for a subtle but elegant day look, you cannot go wrong with this twist on the classic french design.

Traditional French with Glitter Strips and a Feature Nail

A one up on the glitter strip, getting your ring finger as a feature nail is for those who love to sparkle even more.

Coloured Tips

As the weather warms up, warm up your nail tips with cute colours to make your fingers pop. Aim for a nude base coat, and then if you’re feeling brave get a different colour for each nail. A selection of pastel colours works best, but for a real surprise why not consider getting neon nail tips?

A post shared by Małgorzata Płoszajska (@m.studio_paznokci) on

Glitter Gradient

Instead of a crisp, white, clean tip, the glitter gradient involves just that: a soft gradient of glitter beginning at the tip of your nail and trickling downwards.

Nothing but goodness in this face wash. For those who like a little bit of exfoliation but want to steer clear of those nasty, and hopefully soon, illegal micro-beads, this recipe is for you. The combination of the green tea and the aloe vera in this product will send you to cloud nine.

The antioxidants in the green tea help to tone, and tighten your pores while removing toxins from the skin. Meanwhile, the aloe is brilliant at reducing redness, inflammation, and also gives you a bit of a moisture boost. Those properties combined with using a product that doesn’t introduce micro-plastics into our waterways make this recipe a 10/10.

You will need:
-1/3 cup Coconut Oil
-1/4 cup sugar
-1 tablespoons of Aloe Vera Jelly (like this)
-2 Green Tea Bags
-5-6 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil (optional, but great for combating acne)

Cut open the tea bags, and combine all the ingredients together in a bowl. Add or remove sugar depending on how much “scrub” you are looking for.

Honey Face Mask

Honey is not only a lovely nickname for those around you, but also a wonder product created by our best friend (the bee) that has a very long shelf life. (In fact, did you know that honey was discovered inside an Ancient Egyptian tomb that was over 3000 years old and still edible? Brilliant stuff). Honey is also highly effective as a beauty product, and can even help to ease acne-prone skin and smells (and tastes) delicious.

Mix this cheeky face mask once a week at most for a soothing DIY treat to yourself.

You will need:

3 teaspoons raw honey

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

3 tablespoons of Greek yogurt

Mix ingredients together, and apply to your face gently. Leave the mask on for 10-30 minutes and rinse with warm water.

Exfoliating Lemon Lip Scrub

Dry lips, begone! Trying to apply lipstick to dry, chapped lips is an impossible task. Why not whip up a handy do-it-yourself lip exfoliator with the products found in your home? We love using jojoba oil in our skin and hair, it has fatty acids that help to lock in moisture, and when this oil is mixed with our favourite gift from our striped pollen-gathering overlords – honey, you’re in for a good time.

This recipe makes about 4 small containers of scrub, keep excess in the fridge for a refreshing pop in summer.

You will need:

1 teaspoon Jojoba oil

1 teaspoon raw honey

1-2 tablespoons sugar

Mix the jojoba oil, honey, and a few drops of lemon essential oil in a bowl. Add the sugar and mix until it is fully combined with the honey mixture.Apply to lips and gently rub your lips. Leave on for a few minutes to let the ingredients sink in. Use a towel or washcloth to gently remove the product.

Rose and Lavender Toning Spray

The perfect spritz on a summer day, the witch hazel and rose water in this will help to cleanse and purify your skin (and smell amazing). Our friends aloe, lavender, and chamomile do a good job of soothing redness and irritation, while the glycerin will help to lock in moisture. The perfect toner!

The ingredients for this spray are a little more obscure, but any health food shop or essential oil store should stock them. As a side note, it’s no secret that age-defying celebrities love rose water, but it is pretty expensive to buy in bulk. For a less expensive alternative look out for rose hydrosol which is liquid leftover from the steam distillation of the plant. it’s like the rose water oil but less concentrated (and usually cheaper).

You will need:

2 ounces rose water (or rose hydrosol)
1 ounce witch hazel
1 teaspoon aloe vera gel
1/2 teaspoon vegetable glycerin
6 drops lavender essential oil
4 drops chamomile essential oil

Add all of the ingredients into a small jar or bottle and shake to mix. Store it in a cool, dark place and spritz onto dry skin when you need a boost.
